“GEORGE SIMMONDS BOULGER (1853-1922) was a keen naturalist from his earliest childhood; he was appointed Professor of Natural History at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, in 1876, and occupied the chair for thirty years. As a lecturer on many scientific subjects, as author of a book on Elementary Geology, of several botanical volumes, and as an active contributor to natural history periodicals he rendered valuable service to biological science in the widest sense, and played a prominent part in spreading the gospel of Science among the people.
