‘A Delineation of the Strata of England & Wales…’ (1815)
In 1815 William Smith (1769-1839) published what is acknowledged as the first geological map of a country ever produced. The map displayed here is the first imprint, one of the first batch of 20 or so copies produced in September 1815.
